Lesson Learned

Okay well much has happened since I last made an entry here.  We foolishly agreed to take on a foster sheltie from the local rescue group.  Cute enough, yes but unfortunately a Jekyll and Hyde personality.  default
To top it all off, he not only DID have heartworms but he probably also had bordatella and had NOT had a shot for that, so unfortunately one of my other 4 appears to have developed it and he is now on anitbiotics, thank you very much!  This guy bit both my husband and I before the end of the first day. I stupidly tried to pick him up for a bath and he did not want that, and my hub tried to get the leash uncaught from his leg and he didn't like that.  Not to mention he was not housetrained and proceeded to piss all over our house.  :(
We had him a total of 4 1/2 days and relinquished him to the vet on Friday evening for his heartworm treatment and to wish him luck to wherever he ended up.  He definitely needs a professional skilled in animal behavor!  Hard lesson learned at least.  Never trust what you read about a dog, and never foster one from a shelter if you have no clue as to its background.
We still want to get another dog as we miss Reebok a lot...and we are actually leaning toward getting a puppy this time.  I know there is house training involved, but at least this way we can teach and mold a puppy to be a good dog from the get go and not get one that may have some really bad traits like biting you at any given moment when he feels invaded!  I have contacted a few breeders in the area and man has the prices of shelties (from reputable breeders) gone up!  We're looking at $750 + !  Yikes!   Still considering it though, because we 've already adopted 4 from rescue and feel we deserve to get a puppy and enjoy having a wee one around again.  I'm trying to find a smaller one like Reebok was and like how our Kaci is (she is such a cutie patootie).
Work is still work, been a bit more challenging lately with added responsibilities.  Still looking for part-time processing work but so far nothing.  I haven't really been posting about it too much although I do have it on my website.
Also may have a health issue in the form of the big "C", but hopefully not.  Will know more on Thursday.  If that would be the case it would be extremely unfair. Not that life is fair but I am a good weight, eat pretty healthy and have exercised for the last 30 years religiously!  Could use a prayer!  :)
Bye for now.

Been a while..

I know, it has been nearly 2 weeks since I wrote.  I actually have some free time right now as I am waiting to go look at a car for Stacey.  Not that I can afford one right now, but she needs one to start learning how to drive on.  She can't drive my stick and there is no way she is going to learn on Steve's brand new truck! Well okay it isn't brand new but a lot newer than mine!  She doesn't really want to drive anything that big anyway.

I've been having crappy luck getting sellers to hold their appointments with me to see cars.  Seem to get sold out from under me...or I guess I'm not really on top of them anyway if I haven't seen them yet.  Honda Civics/Accords just seem to go like hot cakes!  I was hesitant about looking at one with 237,000 milies on it and asked others opinions and everything.  Went to go see it with my daughter and the lady said it already sold!  She said she left me a message....but it must have been someone else because there was NO message when I got home.  I was NOT a happy camper.  FOlks in this state are plain RUDE!!!

Fingers are crossed that this one today is good.  Same year and color as mine which is pretty cool...but great low mileage! Under 78,000 miles.

I'm still very much looking for a p-t processing/underwriting gig.  Just need the extra money. I looked back at all the expenses last year and it just came in handy for tuition and income taxes....things I just normally can't save for.  Hope to secure something within the next 2 months.

Well I better get a quick lunch before heading out...although I'm not really hungry.  I don't know why I'M nervous about looking at a car.  LOL

Happy New YEAR...okay 9 days late !!

Well a new year and already something bad has happened.  Our Reebok went suddenly last Saturday. The day started out as normal.  Reebok ate all his food and seemed fine. In the late afternoon he was having a bit of trouble coming up two steps from the outside porch to in the kitchen.  I thought maybe he had a sore paw.   A little later he seemed to have trouble getting his footing while standing up.  Other than that I really didn't notice anything major.
I went to pick up Stacey from a friend's at 5:30 and he didn't seem to be acting right when I left and my concern was growing as I picked Stacey up (only 7 min. away from our house).  By the time we got back he was panting and had messed on the floor in the kitchen.
I knew that was bad so we looked up the emergency hospital that was about 20 minutes away as since it was Saturday our vet's office was closed. We headed immediately out with Reebok who had laid down limply on the bathroom rug. ...I was holding him and Steve was driving...but we didn't make it. I knew about 5 minutes down the road that we lost him. Just like that...when the day before he was out romping around with our newest adoptee Obi....   Not sure what happened. Vet couldn't really tell at that point whether it was a stroke, heart attack or something else.
It really feels weird without him here...Cry
I miss the way he barks at the other back porch door to come in, even though the other one is ajar...
I miss the way he spins and barks like crazy at every car that goes by.  He was our # 1 at annoying the hell out of the neighbors with that trick!
I miss the way he would stand back and let the others drink from the water bowl first...always a gentleman
And who is going to jump in and play referee when Molly and Kaci start attacking each other a little too aggresively?
He no longer lays down by my side here at my desk, or opens the pocket door to the bathroom with his nose, just to be in there with me
He no longer listens with his face all perked up and tilting his head from side to side.
And we can no longer see him resting face down with his nose in the carpet, trying to pretend he isn't really asleep..
Hope you found Misty waiting at the Rainbow Bridge Reebok and you two are having a great time, until we meet again.
