~ Happy Tax Day ! ~

Just popping in to wish everyone a happy Tax Day! Did everyone do their taxes before today? Or are there some stragglers who are going to be rushing to the PO by midnight tonight?

I got mine done last week and some of my family's too...well except for one my daughter's who had a hell of a time getting a measily W-2 form!  They gave her and me a huge runaround (who called them to say I was her tax preparer --hey it wasn't a lie...so I didn't tell them I was her mother too!).  They must have made it sound like they mailed at least 3 out!  But me thinks I smell a lie from them!  Anyway, luckily since i use an online tax software and all that is needed to E-file is the information from her last paycheck and the employer's iD #, we got it done. She was able to get their employer ID number from an employee, but wasn't until yesterday.  That's cutting it close!  Alot of aggravation but since she is to get back all the $$ fed tax taken out couldn't see any reason NOT to file.

Anyway that is done for yet another year. Happy to say we should be getting back a sizable refund thanks to the loss that Wood Stock took last year. That is all well and good but after reading the IRS's take on businesses, one must show a profit 3 out of the 5 years in biz and so far we are only 1 for 3.... Or may risk it being considered a 'Hobby', in which case from what I interpreted have to count all the income and can only take expenses on that Misc expense area of Schedule A that almost always gets drowned out by the % of income....so hoping this year will see a net profit, even if minor!

Well back to work for me...busy day as always.

Good Friday !

And it really is.  God has been kind to me this year and it does not go unnoticed to whom I owe the credit to. Granted it is me who is constantly working to make good money but I couldn't do it without whatever drive and strength he is undoubtedly giving me.  Surprised to see something like this from me?...Someone who hasn't attended a church in years?..Since when does one have to belong to a church to be spiritual?  I pray a lot, perhaps not every day, but I fail to see the need to be attending church in order to be the kind of person God would want me to be.  I know this weekend is a holy one and I know that I will think about how Christ died for our sins on the cross and rose again to let us all know he has not 'died'.   I still won't be going to church and I think that is okay with God too.  :)

I really need to be getting to work..but I meant to post this last weekend.  Stac was in the Miss Georgetown pageant again this year and she WON!  Yes she is the new Miss Georgetown 2009!  I'm going to try to post a picture here and hope it takes.  I went up to 2 of the judges afterwards to thank them and one commented on how 'elegant and graceful' she is.  That made me feel so good. I always thought both my girls were beautiful and intelligent but sometimes wonder if that was just the 'mom' in me thinking that.  But its true!! Okay here's the pictures. Hope they load. Bye..

Yes I am alive..

I tried to get onto my desktop to write this but the virus protector on that is not allowing access. UGH it is always something!  I am back to using the computer that I had in the bedroom since never could get internet reception there anyway...and the one I bought from a friend of hub's, a big honking gaming computer crashed on me yet again. The hard drive is corrupt and I was not all too pleased that happened again!  I'm just sticking to my other one now. I am writing this using my laptop which is the only way I was able to get in.

I am taking the time to update now because I got a head start today and am deserving of a break as it is only around 8:00am and i don't usually start until 8:30 or so.  Got up at 5:30AM today, yup....no choice of my own.  It was storming outside and one of the furkids goes balistic when that happens and so around 5 ish..we both woke up and I just decided to get up and get a jump start on the day. This way I am planning on stopping work tonight in time for Grey's Anatomy which I usually work through.

Lucky for me, especially in this economy my job appears to still be secure and that is a good thing.  Working a lot of OT still and this weekend I will be taking 'off' for the first time this year!

Our youngest is going to be in a local scholarship pageant on Saturday. Wish her luck!  And then I really have to update the books and do our tax returns before it is the last weekend! Hopefully we won't owe too much. So it isn't like I will just be lazying around this weekend watching Twilight again like I did the other night with Stac...but it will at least be a break from 'work'.

Let's see what else is new... I'm planning to attempt a 'balcony' garden this year and have several veges already started from seed. I have zuchini, cucumber, bell peppers and trying for the first time in my life, spinach, leaf lettuce and parsley.  Hopefully some of it will do fine. This way having it on the balcony I don't have to worry about having one in the yard where I'd have to try to enclose it (with wire fencing) and there still would be no guarantee that wouldn't get infiltrated with red ants or other creatures (like snakes). So I'm pretty excited about it!

Got some new cushions for the back yard furniture too which are really nice.  Made the mistake first year we were here of leaving the cushions on all winter and between that and the squirrels actually ripping them open to get the stuffing out to use for their nests...yah pretty much needed to be replaced anyway.

Looking forward to watching our oldest perform later this month at college. I really miss seeing her dance. I cannot believe she will be graduating this year.  Stac is graduating from high school too. Hard to believe I'll be practically an 'empty nester' come the fall.

Also plan on going to a local sheltie rescue picnic next month which should be interesting with a bunch of shelties there. The gal who runs it has a farmette with a few acres out in the country away from town so it should be really nice.

So...some nice events to look forward to away from the hum drum work every day/night routine.

Better get back to work now.  Bye.
