Quick catch up

Ugh...got my 'friend' yesterday but I am at least thankful that it didn't hold off to tomorrow. It'd be bad enough that I'm turning the corner, or should I say starting down the hill....at FIFTY tomrrow, but if I had bad cramps and felt horrible on top of it, that would not make for a good birthday! So, let's see think it wsa about 6 weeks since the last one this time.  I really wouldn't mind if I just stopped getting it.  But I guess the best thing is to just grin and bear it and let my body take its course.  I don't really have any family history to compare it to.  I asked my mom and she doesn't remember when she stopped and my older sister had it stop untimely due to her cancer treatments, so I am just going to have to see what happens as the months, hopefully not too many years progress.

I don't like how this transition period seems to be slowing my metaobolism down some and things I used to eat and not gain weight from, must be affecting me now.  I do not like my current weight and so will try to drink more water and eat less food until I lose the 7-8 lbs I'd like to lose.  Guess I shouldn't complain because in some people's eyes that isn't much to lose at all, but when I'm trying on shorts that fit me when we first moved here and I can barely zip them up, it is not good.  I'm too used to fitting everything easily pretty much all my life so far - well at least the first half.

Well Stac's car is now fixed and looks very good.  Hopefully there will be no more accidents. She turned 16 also and has two girlfriends over who spent the night for a small sweet 16 party. I got off easy with that so I'm grateful.  I was hoping she didn't want a house full of kids spending the night!  The girls aren't up yet and they probably won't be until close to time to leave which from what Stacey told me will probably be around 11:00.

I don't know if I mentioned it yet on here but she is entering the Miss Texas Teen competition in Houston. Sort of a stab in the dark entry and she was accepted.  She is going to attend 5 'classes' that a Miss Austin coach is providing to help girls out at the pageant. Since she has been in NO beauty pageants, I figured it'd be worth it so that she will know a lot more about what to do, expect, practice on....than if she didn't go.  That starts today. Guess I'll let her drive there, come home (because it is 4 hours) and then go pick her up.

Of course feeling like crap I don't want to go anywhere today but I'll do that and probably grocery shop later tonight.

Still working hard which I am about to start into for the day again here. My contract with the mortgage company I'm working for had to end so tomorrow I officially start as a contract underwriter for a company (but will be doing the same job for same client). It will be hard working 'under' someone else.  I always had my boss at the mortgage company but I was still able to be very independent. Now I will have to ask this man about assignments, etc., but at least I'm still working. There are thousands of job cuts happening in my field right now.

I had hoped by this point to have some emergency savings in place with all the OT I'm doing, but between medical expenses, car repairs, income taxes, college expenses....it just isn't happening yet. Hopefully can start saving now. I don't like not having that padding for just in case. And hopefully this contracting job will be long term.  I'd hate to have to look for a job when there probably are none in my field around here right now with all the layoffs - not to mention the furkids are used to someone being home all day.

Well I'm going to grab some breakfast and get to work ....again.... I'm like a broken record as of late... :)

Only in Texas!

Well I finished my weekend work early!  Woo Hoo!  Have the rest of the day/evening to relax and I think I'll do my nails since they are still pretty decent.

I forgot I was going to mention in the last blog about Friday night.  It was the first football game of the season and of course Stac was going to perform with the gettes. So I told her I'd go, figured I could use the break from work anyway. I asked my dad if he wanted to come along but he wasn't interested.

Anyway, got there in plenty of time but noticed the sky turning kind of dark and of course I did NOT have my umbrella with me or anything like that.  I also bought a program for ONCE because I knew the gettes new pictures were going to be in there. They did the beginning introduction of each team member but while they were doing that the wind started picking up (and that really irritated my overworked eyes). Then we all saw a bolt of lightening to the far right of the field (so it was at least a few miles away I'd guess).  Well the announcer came on and said they have a state law requirement that whenever lightning is seen they have to have a 30 minute delay.  Meanwhile it is not raining yet ,but dropped probably 15 degrees or so and I was actually getting on the cold side. I had jeans on luckily (because I almost wore shorts). I started chatting with the woman next to me whom was very nice.  She grew up in Georgetown and remembered when it was only a few stores, the "Square" and only 2 schools for the entire area of kids.  That was nice talking with her since I really don't socialize much at all offline.

Well during that 30 minutes another lightning strike was noticed.  The 30 minute clock had finally run out and I saw another 30 minutes starting.  A few minutes later the man came back on and said that another lightning 30 min. delay was required.  GEEZZ...each time they see lightning they didn't start the 30 minute from that new time but just added another one on top at the end.  I waited another 7 minutes and saw behind us a lightning strike - again - nothing so close that we were all taking cover or anything but nonetheless it was noticable.  It had only sprinkled a little thank goodness because I was wondering how I was going to keep the thick program dry.  I didn't care if I got wet but I wanted to have that program as a keepsake for Stac.

Well that was it. When I saw the newest bolt, I decided I was not going to sit through another 30 minutes after this one runs out and left!  I couldn't believe how many people were just staying there.  Enough was enough!  I got to my car and left Stac a vm to call me when she was done because I gave up and left.

She finally called at 12:15am...yes..after midnight.  There was so many delays, so that the game that was suppose to start around 7:00pm didn't start until 9:00pm.  What a long night!  Once again I had a hard time trying to stay awake to pick her up...and about now I'd normally say can't wait until she gets her license. But her car is still sitting in the driveway (hopefully will get a call back tomorrow from the auto guy), and I told her there is no need to hurry and get her license when she can't drive yet.  We will need to get her proof of insurance before she goes in for her license and I've already been warned the rates will be at least DOUBLE what they'd be if she had not had her accident.  So when the car is fixed, she can get her license.  I have no clue how long it will take, but the way this state is...could be at least a month!

Just floored me that the game was just not CANCELLED!  Only in this state would people wait hours to watch a local high school football game!

Well going to do something FUN now.

Happy Labor Day everyone !

Catching up about the ex's visit...and Stacey's car accident..

Well I couldn't post a picture here..must be disabled or something but Stacey had her first and hopefully ONLY car accident last week while her dad was visiting from PA.  She got it into her head that she wanted to drive him and Dani down to Austin to look around.  She thought she was at a one way stop sign but she wasn't. Without going into everything, she avoided a truck (thank GOD), but hidden next to it was a larger SUV (Cadillac Escalade?) that she tried to avoid but got hit on the right bumper which made the car spin around.  She was pretty shaken up about it, and her bumper is pretty well mangled, but everyone is safe at least!  My ex said the other vehicle didn't look like it had any damage at all but by 5:15PM that evening I got a call from his insurance company about a claim put in for bumper damage.  UGH!  I was so hoping that no insurance companies had to get involved (there was no police /accident report) and I was hoping we could just pay for whatever Stacey's car cost to fix and not have to worry about insurance rates.

Not sure what is going to happen there.  She only had her learners permit but is on our policy as our agent said she could be. Hopefully OURS won't go up but he already told me that hers will be at least DOUBLE what it would have been when she gets her license and gets formally put on a policy.  I'm waiting for one place to call me back to get an estimate for repairs.  I haven't a clue how much it will be. We DID have collision on the car but the deductible is $1250. I sure hope it isn't $1250 in repairs.  The car is drivable but it isn't going anywhere except to the repair shop.

Well like I said if this is the only accident she ever has, I'll still be happy!!  Their visit with their dad was nice and they got to visit my folks, Wood Stock and he also got to see her perform with the Georgettes at a pre-school sports type of function.
