Dog Parks..to go or not?!

There is a dog park in our town (I heard), but I have not checked
it out yet. I'm not sure which one or more of my six shelties
I would take with me to try it out though. None of them have
been off leash and tested in public to see if they'd come back
to me.

I already exercise on my own, so the thought of chasing one
or more of my dogs in who knows how much doggy poop
there might be, around and around, while they run loose saying
"Catch me if you can, mom", just doesn't sound all that appealing.

Not to mention, I don't know how they would react
to other loose dogs running around. I would hate to see a
dog fight break out. I've already witnessed one of our poor
shelties being tossed around like a rag doll by a chocolate lab
during one unfortunately encounter. She survived but I remember
her badly bruised abdomen.

Let's say I do have a pleasant experience at the dog park
with whichever lucky dog(s) I take with me.  I still would have
to face the stares of the furkids that I did NOT take with me
after I got back. Talk about guilt trip!

Now maybe folks don't have their dogs off leash but it is my understanding
these are fenced in areas that dogs can roam, play, poop, to their hearts
delight while in the dog park.

I will try it out someday I suppose, but I'm just not ready to explore it
quite yet.

~ Off the cuff Poem ~

Ho Hum

I'm so glum

My work is slow

Where can I go

Not much else to do right now

except chores and who wants to do them anyhow

so guess I'll go eat lunch

and hope for a bunch

..of more work.

..Idle Time....

It is hard to believe but I am waiting for work assignments and since I don't have work, I thought I'd update my blog.  Let's see..

Well Stacey was in the Miss Georgetown Pageant on the 29th, I don't think I wrote about that yet.  They definitely don't put the most point value on beauty and fitness.  The girl who won was not the best in either of those categories, in fact I think they steer toward the chunky girls based on this year's winner and last year's reigning winner.  I don't get it.  Stacey did come in the top 5 which is really great! But honestly, except for the answer she gave to her 'question' which was really more like a statement, I thought it would be between her and another gal (who was very pretty and slim).  The other gal made the top 5 as well, but between Stacey and her they were in 4th and 5th place. :(

Stacey did make me very proud though as she performed a dance she made up to a song and when the song messed up and stopped completely, she kept on going and the crowd cheered her on as well.  She got a standing ovation at the end from quite a few people in the audience.  That was really nice!   She doesn't seem to be that upset that she didn't win, but she can try again next year, although if they are looking for more plain and chunky, she doesn't have a chance.  ;-)

She wore the evening gown that she bought for the Miss Texas teen pageant and had cute casual wear and interview outfit, but again, they didn't seem to base much on looks.  She was also poised and said she did really well on the earlier interviewing. So it isn't like she's all looks and no brains.  But anyway...enough of that.

I actually had no work to speak of this past weekend so with my free time I got a lot of things done. The kitchen floor got a good 'down on my hands and knees' scrubbing, the front shrub area got all trimmed and weeded, and I cleaned up my oldest's closet and room since she isn't really home much at all.  Stacey needed her closet space so it is all cleared out now and the room in general looks a lot more spacious - sorry, the dragon posters are gone Dani. :-) I even got to relax and watch a movie, but by Sunday night I was pretty beat and after went to bed, behind my right eye was a stabbing pain.  It hurt more when I had my eyes shut too. Reminded me of one of the road trips I took out here with the girls when we stopped in Missouri and behind the same eye it really hurt and I got sick in the hotel room too.  I really felt bad then. This wasn't quite as bad because I didn't get sick but it was very hard to get to sleep. I was thinking maybe it was a migraine or sinus headache?...I don't really know because I rarely get them.

Things are plodding along at Wood Stock.  It has been a little slow the last few months but it is almost paying for itself still (last fall thru xmas it covered all its own bills).  Since Jan. I've had to supplement it a little but not entirely.  I know hub likes having his own store and so as long as my work stays secure, we'll stay in business.

Well I see I have some work to do now, so I'll end here.
