Happy Labor Day!

Well tomorrow is the unofficial last day of summer.  We are having a barbecue with the family and I spent most of the day yesterday and today cleaning. Got a new Dirt Devil on thursday so hub could take the sweeper to the store.  I had to empty out the canister 3 times just to do the living room. It looks wonderful! Did the entire house but now I'm paying for it.  My back is sore and my right leg hurts from the foot up. It probably didn't help that I exercised today after holding off for over 2 weeks due to my knee.

I guess I just have to admit that I'm getting older.  I also have to admit that I hope the store really takes off or my work gets even busier so that I can just hire a cleaning service again.  It is virtually impossible to keep the house clean with 6 dogs. I suppose if I spent every weekend cleaning, it could stay clean.  I don't want to spend every weekend cleaning though...so hope the financial situation gets bettter real soon!

I guess I also better just resign myself to the fact that I will weigh 145-149 lbs not matter what.  I don't eat all that much and have been cutting down on the evening snacks but nothing seems to help.  I'm sure not exercising didn't help me either but even when I was doing it diligently I don't think I was ever down below 145 in the last few years.  Of course it doesn't help that I'm not working in an office.  That is when I weighed about 10 pounds less. But hey I'll take working at home over the 10 lbs. any day!!

Hub has gotten some special furniture orders already so it seems like the store will be a custom furniture place too which would be okay.  Whatever it takes to do well.  :)

School is in full swing around here and the first football game has already taken place.  Geez I forgot to even ask Stac if we won or not.  She is still working even though school started but I told her she needs to cut down her hours. I don't want her working every night when she needs to have time for homework and just plain 'down' time.

Well I'm just relaxing now watching TV until dinner time.  Bye for now.

~ Back to School soon~

Here in Texas schools start earlier than they do back east. Stac starts school tomorrow already. This summer was really hot and so normally I'd say it flew by, but it really didn't this year. Not for me.  I love warm/hot weather as opposed to freezing cold winters, but with over 50 days of 100 degree weather this summer, it was a bit much, even for me.  Not that I'm looking to move anytime in the near future. Just making an observation that this summer was (or is) really hot!  Probably have another month or so of this heat to go..

I see I haven't written here in over a month.  I thought about it a few times and got distracted doing something and and never did, so I'm writing now.  It is Sunday, I have no weekend work (haven't for a long time now), and am not doing my full exercise program right now because a month or so ago I injured my right knee, kneeling on the bed. Something wasn't in the right place or something and I continued to finish kneeling on the bed and that really hurt. Now I'm trying to just rest it to let it heal on its own and keeping up with my exercising was only aggravating it all over again.  So it has been over a week since I've done my aerobics portion of my rountine. Actually not doing any of my routine as much of it is leg work too and that hurts too after too many reps. I've just been doing some ab work and arm work with my 8 lb weights.  And we are walking the dogs but even that starts to make my knee sore, especially if one of the dogs is pulling the whole walk as she tends to do.

I still cross my legs when I'm sitting at my desk here and then when I uncross them ' ouch' twinge of pain in my knee. ARGH!!  Hoping it gets better by itself. I hate medical bills and just got done last week paying off hub's MRI bill from a year ago.

Still have work which is a good thing, although I'd like to be a little busier.  Getting about 80% of the amount of work I'd like to get.  Hope it picks up soon!

Some good news!  We moved our store to Georgetown and it is open!  Hub gets people in every day and we've gotten some sales after only being open a few weeks.  Hopefully things will go great there and the plan is that the store will not only cover all its monthly bills but also make a profit so maybe he can start paying himself!

I'm still working my side businesses as much as I can. Sending out samples of my Affordable Mineral Makeup™ and promoting our PartyPetShop business.  I just completed a phone interview with a nice gal who owns a website talkradio sort of website.  It will be airing on Sept 22nd.  Some things we have at the store also, so hope some things sell there too.

Stac is at work today. She isn't going to work as much when school starts. She needs to be able to rest and do homework most nights of the week.  I'm very proud of her and how well she's done since she had no restaurant experience when she got the job.  Proud of Dani too working this summer while she's off from college.

Can't believe she is going to be a senior this year!  She wants to go into some sports physical therapy in the dance field she thinks now.  I'm so glad she is really thinking about the future and keeping her options open.

We have hub's truck for sale and have dropped the price as low as we want to go.  Only got one call on it but the lady was in a hurry to get a truck right away and got one already that night.  The next day she returned hub's call and had said already got one. She was down in the city anyway and wanted to have a mechanic look at it.  I don't really see why that is necessary as it is only a 2006 and the warranty is transferrable and good to 75,000 miles. He might just have to hang onto it if it won't sell for what he wants.  The plan is to sell it, buy an older truck from a friend who has one for sale and hopefully having some for putting toward rent for the new store.  Fingers crossed!Undecided

Next month is a biggie for our family. Three birthdays and our 9 year wedding anniversary.  Hub and I are tentatively planning to go to Vegas for our 10 yr anniversary - that is where we got married.  I don't feel like I've been married for 9 years already - guess that's a GOOD sign. :)

Well, I better go get a shower and get dressed for the day..since it is nearly noon!  I'll try to write more often!

PS I should mention Stac and i went on a road trip last month to check out a few colleges and to visit D & D in their new house (they are renting).  We had a good time even though it was a lot of driving and that was something I wasn't used to.  I really liked Sam Houston and that seems to be on the top of the list. We may visit a few more in the next month or two.
